CLEVELAND STATE COLLEGE TOUR A HUGE SUCCESS!
Saturday, September 19, 2009 was the beginning of what is hopefully a long lasting relationship between Richmond Heights Secondary School and Cleveland State University. Twenty-One Richmond Heights students and their parents received a complimentary tour of the CSU campus as well as the Fenn College of Engineering. The trip was made possible through the efforts of Richmond Heights School Board member, Terri Lyles and Fenn Academy Assistant Director, Gregg Schoof. Also attending from Richmond Heights were Nathan Bishko, Principal and Jim Davis, math instructor. The students and parents were given a tour of the Fenn College of Engineering, which included some hands on activities and experiences. Next, they walked through the state of the art, brand new Recreation Center. Students and parents also were given a tour of the newly constructed Fenn Tower Dormitories. "It is important for parents to be a part of their child's planning for and seeking a college education. Before selecting a college major, one important factor that our young people should consider is what areas and topics interest them," Lyles indicated when asked about the importance of college tours. The tour ended with everyone being treated to lunch, courtesy of Mr. Schoof and his staff. The trip concluded with our students and parents being taken on a "Lolley the Trolley" tour of historical landmarks within downtown Cleveland. We hope to organize more college tours as the school year progresses. Thank you to all involved!
