Culinary Club Student Interviews James Beard–Nominated Chef at SC4K Fundraiser
Richmond Heights student Lydia Brown-Sowah had a unique opportunity to showcase her culinary curiosity and leadership: she was selected to interview five-time James Beard–nominated Chef Jeremy Umansky of Larder Delicatessen and Bakery at Shoes and Clothes for Kids’ (SC4K) second annual Party on South Waterloo fundraiser on Oct. 15.
SC4K is a leading nonprofit dedicated to removing barriers to school attendance by providing new shoes, clothes and school supplies to students in need. This year marks the first time students who attend schools eligible to use SC4K’s Community Resource Center have been invited to participate in the event.
Lydia was nominated for this special role by Richmond Heights Culinary Club teacher Jaclyn Davey. “She is inquisitive, creative, and a wonderful communicator and leader,” Davey said.
