National Custodian Day
They work while we rest. Sometimes we don’t recognize the work they provide. That’s why we love this day, National Custodian Day, which rolls around every October 2. It acknowledges the hard work that it takes to keep our public facilities in tip-top shape, as well as the people who diligently work to ensure our schools and workplaces are spotless and sanitary.
Custodians serve as our first line of defense in the battle against germs. So, on National Custodian Day, take some time to express your gratitude to the custodians who keep the offices and schools you visit immaculate. Custodians are the hardest-working individuals in the industry!

A Thank You from Ms. Evans:

Thank you, Spartan Nation, for supporting Sickle Cell Awareness throughout September. From listening to weekly announcements and real-life stories to participating in blood drives, wearing burgundy and awareness ribbons, and sharing vital information, you helped shine a light on this important cause.

Please continue to support and encourage all Sickle Cell Warriors even after September! #RHSpartanpride

🎗️ September is National Sickle Cell Awareness Month
Sickle cell disease is the most prevalent inherited blood disorder in the United States, impacting around 100,000 individuals. This year, take the opportunity to Get to Know Sickle Cell.
Sickle cell disease, also known as sickle cell anemia, includes a group of inherited disorders that affect hemoglobin, the primary protein responsible for transporting oxygen in red blood cells. Under normal circumstances, red blood cells are disc-shaped and flexible, allowing them to navigate smoothly through blood vessels. However, in sickle cell disease, these cells become misshapen, typically adopting a crescent or "sickle" form due to a gene mutation that alters the hemoglobin molecule. When red blood cells take on this sickle shape, they lose their flexibility and can obstruct blood flow throughout the body.
